I've quickly turned into a Dior junkie ever after trying my first quint (Crush Glow). Thankfully, Dior doesn't have a huge selection of colors in their permanent line that are tempting enough for me to go nuts over. I find warm toned palettes with shades of golds and browns to be hard to resist, which are more common in their seasonal palettes.

Some of the palettes are a hit or a miss pigmentation-wise, but I've had very positive experiences with Dior so far. I love their buttery soft texture, blendability and luminous finish.

Believe it or not, I've had my Urban Decay Naked Palette for quite some time now, and I barely ever reach for it. And honestly, I'm not even sure why. There is a decent selection of colors and all, but it's definitely a highly raved product that doesn't get much love from me on a weekly basis.

I'm very "pro" convenience/low-maintenance products, and I find the convenience of the Dior 5-color palettes very appealing. They are housed in a very sturdy mirrored compact and contain 5 shades of shadow that compliment each other for a variety of looks. They also contain two double-sided applicators, which believe it or not - I actually use each time I use my Dior palettes. One side of the sponge is large for applying color all over the lid, and the other side is smaller for lining the eyes and/or applying color through the crease. It's everything you need, in a small compact.

With a couple Sephora gift cards I had left over from Christmas, I treated myself to the Rosy Tan 5-Colour Eyeshadow palette.

Rosy Tan contains a warm brown with fine gold shimmer, a light pink pearl, a velvety taupe-brown, a silvered metallic brown and an icy champagne-pink pearl. All of the shades work very well together for a soft, neutral look. I'm especially loving the middle shade - it's probably the prettiest color I own for an inner-corner and brow bone highlight. My second favorite shade from the palette is probably the silvery brown on the bottom left.

I really do like this palette, but the only thing I'd probably change is to make the darkest brown a little deeper so I can create a more intense eye. I still feel the need to add an additional deep brown (such as Nars Mekong) or a black shadow to darken my crease. I doubt I'll get too much use out of the pink, but I'm sure I'll be using all of the other shades pretty often. I still have yet to play around with this palette though, as I've only worn it twice so far. I can definitely see this being one of my "go-to" palettes to create a quick look on the go.

Both times wearing this palette I didn't use a base, and the colors seemed to last well throughout the day with minimal fading after 6 hours.

On a side not, I'm currently crushed because Starbucks recently discontinued my favorite coffee blend - The breakfast blend. It's the perfect mild-medium that I've been drinking for the past year or so every morning and evening. They've replaced it with "Blonde", which is pretty good, but I still like my breakfast blend better. So, I'll be on the hunt for an alternative. Dior currently has a selection six liquid foundations (including the airbrush spray foundation), with Diorskin Nude (Fluid) being the most popular.

I've been bored with my foundations lately, and Diorskin Nude peaked my interest as I noticed that it - or was, a favorite among many beauty bloggers. So, I decided to pick it up during Sephora's VIB sale.

The numbering system with this foundation is as follows:

yellow undertones = ends in 1

pink undertones = ends in 2

neutral undertones = ends in 0

peach undertones = ends in 3

Knowing that, helped me figure out my foundation shade a little easier. I know that I need a yellow based foundation, so my choices were 021, 031 or 051. So there's basically a light skin match, medium and dark with not much in between - for yellow undertones, that is. The lightest yellow shade (021) actually isn't that light. I'd say it's around a NC20 in the MAC coloring system, not far from a NC25.

So, I chose 021, and it's a really good match for me right now. I haven't used self tanner in a few months, so it's actually slightly dark - since I'm probably only around a MAC NC15 right now, but it looks good once I blend the color down my neck.

Here's a quick swatch and comparison to another foundation in the same coloring range (with less yellow). Diorskin Nude in 021 Linen is swatched on the left and Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua B20 Tendre on the right in both photos.

I've applied this foundation a few different ways. I've used my fingers, a flat-top brush, as well as a standard foundation brush, and I like all methods. On most days I'll use my flat top foundation brush because it applies my makeup in the shortest time, but I like using my fingers as well - especially on areas where I'd like to build the coverage. I've also read that it works wonderfully applied with a damp beautyblender sponge (or similar)

The coverage is light to a light-medium. It evens out my skintone and calms down any redness, as well as lightly camouflaging my blemishes. It doesn't conceal them 100%, so a spot concealer would be handy. It takes around a minute or so to set, and it's then when I really notice how great it makes my skin look. The result is so natural, that it just looks like very healthy, good skin that glows. The finish is a satin - not quite matte, but not dewy. I rarely have to set with a powder, or moisturize prior. I can apply it quickly, and literally be out the door.

I have to say it holds up incredibly well throughout the day. It will fade slightly on the tip of my nose, but I barely ever get oily - which is a really wonderful thing to say about a foundation that I don't need to set with a powder. It also feels light on my face all day.

PROS: Lightweight, has a natural finish, adds luminosity to the skin, doesn't make my skin oily or dry it out, wears well throughout the day.
CONS: The color selection is good, but could be better. I would have liked a shade lighter, but there was no other option for my coloring unless I chose a neutral foundation (which usually makes me look gray). Also, because the foundation is so light and layers incredibly well (it will never look cakey), I end up using more product at once than I'd really like - so, I'm sure with daily use I'd be done with the bottle in a shorter time than I would with some of my heavier foundations.
PACKAGING: I love the packaging, and the pump works very well at dispensing however much product you need at once. Glass bottles are always a bit heavy, so it may weigh down your bag a little bit, but it is nevertheless a pretty bottle.  
OVERALL: I really like this foundation and would recommend it to those with relatively good/decent skin that would like to even out their complexion and cover up minor blemishes and discoloration. For those who need a medium to full coverage, you may want to skip this. I think it's beneficial for all skin types, from dry to oily skin. For those with very dry skin, I'd recommend applying the foundation with a damp sponge or brush, as this foundation dries fairly quick upon application. It's a great foundation for daily use, and because of it's beautiful, skin-like finish, it would make a great foundation for events, holidays and shoots. It has an SPF of 10, so for the daytime, an extra SPF may be necessary for added sun protection. The plus side with a low SPF is that it will photograph well without a white glare.

I typically don't like posting about products that are limited edition from old collections or that are discontinued, but I had to make an exception for Dior's Five Golds Quint. I got a hold of this beauty in a blog sale for a fraction of the price, and I'm loving it!

Five Golds was one of the two, 5-Colour Eyeshadow palettes available last winter from Dior's 2010 Holiday Collection. Five Golds includes a charcoal black with silver sparkles (reminiscent of MAC Black Tied); metallic copper-gold; metallic medium-toned bronzed brown; metallic silver and a pale, shimmery golden ivory.

I was automatically drawn to the palette ever since it launched because I'm a big fan of warm and neutral palettes, as well as palettes that contain all of the shades necessary to create a daytime and nighttime look. Why didn't I purchase it then?? Who knows. I'm a bit of a procrastinator, and I'm still kicking myself for not getting a hold of the Summer 2011 Dior's Aurora Bronzer and literally punching myself for not getting Chanel's Topkapi Palette. Someone please tell me they aren't all that so I won't feel so bad. haha! The colors in this palette can all be used at once (without looking over-the-top), with no additional shadows needed. I rarely come across a Dior palette with 5 shades to my liking, so I'm really happy with this particular palette.

Dior Five Golds

As far as texture goes, all of the shades are very smooth and blend easily. The pigmentation is excellent for all shades, with the exception of the lightest golden ivory shade. It's very sheer and applies almost like a shimmery pigment, that when blended, all that's left behind is a scatter of sparkles. It applies much better when packed over a base, otherwise, it looks nice on the inner corners or all over the lid for a little bit of shimmer.

Although the shadows perform well without a base, using a base will keep the colors from fading or disappearing throughout the day (especially if you have oily skin). I like using MAC Paint Pots. I'd probably use Indianwood or Bare Study.

Is this palette a must-have?

Not entirely - It's definitely a palette worth giving a chance if you happen to spot one on any blog sales or makeup swaps. None of the shades are that unique, and are easily dupe-able with other brands. But, it's the convenience of having all of the shades you need in one very practical, compact palette. Also, the Dior quality is definitely there. Dior palettes are sometimes a hit or miss, but this palette doesn't contain any chalky or powdery shades. I'm very happy with this palette and I'm certain it will be one of my go-to palettes for every day.

What's your favorite quint? I've had Earth Reflection on my "to-buy in the near future" list for ages now. I've spotted it in several blog sales, and every single time I've messaged the seller to purchase it, the sale always fell through. Nuts! Maybe it wasn't meant to be.
